Our little man has already grown so much. It's hard to believe that he is one month old already. We have watched our son grow to experience so much already. Cooper is beginning to track with his eyes, following his mommy and daddy. We do love how Cooper just stares at us, learning our every last feature, learning how to mimic a smile, raise an eye brow or pucker up for a kiss. Mommy can't wait for her little guy to kiss her back and Daddy cannot wait for Cooper to captivate him with a stunning smile (while he's awake that is). We have been amazed since day one at this little guy's strength. He has been able to lift his head off our chest and hover there for awhile. He will now push himself with his legs to a standing position when you hold him and position his feet on the ground. We keep telling him that he is a hockey player in the making, so I suppose he knows that strength is a good thing!
Cooper's one month check up came upon us much too quickly. Little did I know how difficult it is to choose a pediatrician. Thankfully, many of Michael's buddies live in Castle Rock and take their kids to the same doctor's office, Perry Street Pediatrics. Being the mom that I am now, I of course wanted to do my own research on this office, read up on the pediatricians and then decide if this is the place for us, and more importantly for Cooper. Both Michael and I want a doctor who knows what they are doing, like anyone would want, right. It just so happened that the doctor that we ended up choosing for Cooper was 5280's number one pediatrician in 2010—Dr. Michael Milobsky. Michael also knew of him from working at Sky Ridge—Dr. Milobsky who also periodically works in the pediatric ICU. This made both of us feel much better, there is something about docs that work in a hospital, they have a different mentality, a mentality that we believe is generally more beneficial.
As we walk into the front entrance of Cooper's new doctor's office, Michael tells me that this was the same office he went to when he was a kid. I love living in a small town! As we, Michael, Cooper and myself walk into our personal room the nurse asks Dad to undress our little man so that she could take some measurements to see how much Cooper has grown since our last visit. Sure enough, our big eater continues to grow. He currently weighs 9 pounds 1 ounce (50th percentile), 21 inches long (25-50th percentile), and has a 14 3/4 cm (75th percentile) head circumference. I know what you're thinking as you read this, 75th percentile for his HEAD. Yes, Michael says that this comes from my side of the family, more specifically from his mommy—I say thanks, but I guess it's only to hold our BIG brains.
