Not only was it Announcement Day, but it was the last day of Michael's six week Lieutenant's class. A special reason to gather the family together to celebrate such a wonderful man and all of his accomplishments (Daddy's preparing for his future, the future that will give Baby everything he/she needs). As moms, dads, sisters and grandparents walked through our front door each individual greeted Michael with kind words of love. Little did they know what news and invigorating words they would hear from us later in the evening. Words that would fill their ears with much joy and anticipation.
Although our meal for the big day was a simple meal, hamburgers and bratwurst, it was a great excuse for Michael to purchase a new grill. A few days before, we spent a full day shopping for the perfect grill... sad to say, NOTHING was perfect enough for Michael, so we walked alway empty handed. Michael spent the next day shopping again, store to store—finally finding the grill that had all the features he was looking for. As Michael assembled the grill, I sat on the driveway and read through all the material the doctor had given to us at our last appointment. I shared everything with Michael. It was truly a perfect evening, while Gabby sat in my lap enjoying her evening too.
It was a rainy and cold day, but I could have guessed that the weather would be just, and it did not stop Michael from grilling outside on his new Master Forge grill. ALL big events in our lives have always been filled with rain... but we are superstitious, believing that with rain comes good luck—rain has truly blessed our lives in the most magnificent and meaningful ways. Rain blessed us on our wedding shower (which was suppose to be held outside) and our wedding ceremony (also, to be held outside). I would like to say these events where our only rainy celebrations, but rain has followed us through many others too—and I know rain will continue to follow us through the rest of our lives. As Michael brought in the hamburgers from outside, butterflies began to fill my tummy, not sure why—I wasn't nervous—overly excited instead, Michael and I had prepared to tell everyone our joyous news as we gathered around the dinner table—a place we gather so often to tell of wonderful stories. As everyone sat down, Michael hugged Baby and me because as of this moment everyone would know of our family of three.
